Onsumble Theatre stages - Kanjush

Onsumble Theatre, a leading drama group of Mymensingh staged “Kanjush”, a translated comedy at District Shilpakala Academy auditorium Friday evening.

The play was directed by Md Abul Monsur, president of Onsumble Theatre.

The cast of the play were Romaiya Tabassum Shimana, Mahfuz Sristi, Asaduzzaman Rubel, Abul Monsur, Sumiya Tabassum Bannya, Sanjida Wahid Omi and Joy Saha.

The troupe organised a cultural evening titled “Old is Gold”, that included rendition of songs of yesteryears, and recitation.

SM Wares, Ferdous Baul, Sadia Labonya and Shamim Ahmed rendered songs at the capacity-packed auditorium. The recitation of Puspita Tahsin Swaron, a member of the troupe, also enthralled the audience.

Earlier, a discussion was held where Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh Mustakim Billah Faruqui was the chief guest.

The president of the drama troupe in his welcome speech said, the group has been working since 2007 but they have no office or even no place for conducting their rehearsal, but still they stage plays regularly.

Speakers at the discussion were of the view that as a leading drama group Onsumble Theatre deserves necessary facilities. The speakers also urged for effective steps for arranging a place for the troupe so that they could conduct their
activities smoothly.

The guests also praised the performance of the artistes.
