A poetry recitation session by a group of poets enthralled a packed audience at a restaurant of town's Kachari Ferry Ghat on the bank of Brahmaputra River Thursday evening.
Around 10 poets recited poems written by poets of different vintage. The session, titled “Rudra Megher Pongktimala” made the rainy evening enjoyable.
Prof. Dr. Mohit-Ul-Alam, vice-chancellor of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU), a culture -based university of the country, attended as chief guest.
Poets Amjad Dulon, Rubina Azad, Hasan Masum, Sajal Koraishi, Lima Laizu, Tapoti Chakraborty, Afreen Jahan Laamyea, Saimul Haque, Asaduzzaman Rubel and Kamrul Haque Imran recited poems.
Eminent poets of Mymensingh region Mosharraf Karim, Shamsul Fayez, Farid Ahmed Dulal, Ashraf Mir, Nazrul Hayat, Gausur Rahman, Jugal Das, Mahmud Al Mamun,Yeazdani Koraishi Kajol and Tareq Haider were present on the occasion.
The flute performance by Ustad Shahabuddin Khan and Raiyaan Bashir on violin added to the charm of the evening.
The chief guest said the evening was not only a session of poetry recitation but a gathering of poets as well.
This event will be an encouragement for poets, especially for the upcoming littérateurs, said the vice-chancellor, also a writer and poet.
The discussion and poetry recitation will enrich the literary field of Mymensingh region and the country, added the academic.
Poet Swadhin Chowdhury, also coordinator of the event presented the programme.
