Court orders to exhume Mahajabin's body

A Dhaka court today ordered to exhume the body of Dr Shamarukh Mahajabin, who was found dead at her in-laws’ house in the capital's Dhanmondi on November 13 to conduct autopsy again. The court ordered the deputy commissioner of Jessore to take steps in this regard following a petition, filed by Nurul Islam, father of Mahajabin. He rejected the autopsy report, conducted by Dhaka Medical College, saying that she committed suicide. Mahajabin's husband Humayun Sultan was arrested after a murder case was filed by her father.

A Dhaka court today placed Humayun Sultan, son of former Awami League lawmaker from Jessore Khan Tipu Sultan, on a three-day remand in a case filed for killing his doctor wife. Shamarukh Mahjabin, 26, was found dead at their Dhanmondi residence in the capital on November 13. Police have detained Humayun, who practises law at the High Court, soon after Mahjabin’s death. 2 gunned down in Jhenidah

Two persons were gunned down after they were picked up by miscreants identifying themselves as lawmen in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah in the wee hours of today. The bodies of Abdul Hadi, 35, and Sohag Hossain, 35, of Boro Razapur village in Jessore Sadar, were found at a jute field, reports our Jhenaidah correspondent quoting police. Four people were killed and three others injured as a truck rammed a battery-run easy bike on Jessore-Khulna highway at Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore yesterday.
